Mudd’s Women Magda Drawing Finally DONE!

Women of Star Trek TOS Mudd's Magda Drawing At last, it’s done! I FINALLY finished my Magda drawing for my Women of Star Trek series. I have been putting off this drawing as I’m caught up doing my eBay stuff and setting up this blog. So this drawing really dragged on. Yesterday, I made a commitment and chained myself to the drawing table and finished the last 30% of this drawing in a couple of hours. And now I feel GREAT! That explains my funny smile in the photo. It is a great relief to finish things.

Now that it’s done, this Magda drawing came out better than I had expected. Initially I didn’t think her pose on Captain Kirk’s chair would be too dynamic or interesting. But ultimately, the dark chair helped to pop her right out. Overall, I’m happy with this one. I will post this Magda drawing up once I get it sprayed and scanned it.

It looks like my next Women of Star Trek drawing will be of Mea 3, Barbara Babcock, from the Star Trek Original Series “A Taste of Armageddon” episode. She looks very elegant in that episode. Some ideas and images has been simmering in my head for awhile now for Mea 3. Can’t wait to get that one going!

TOS Andreas (Sherry Jackson) Drawing in Color

Sometimes I just can’t leave my drawings alone! One thing that bothered me with my Women of Star Trek Andreas drawing was that it lacked some likeness to Sherry Jackson. Something about the eyes in the sketch that did not look like her. So I decided to paint it up in Photoshop. This painting was a little more involved. I started with the same process in Photoshop with my sketch, color, and multiply layers as mentioned in my previous quick coloring post. Once I have that, I keep refining it until it looks painterly.

Now that the face of Andreas is painted, it is looking a lot more like Sherry Jackson. I didn’t want to paint up the whole drawing so I composited the color version over the sketch with a mask and gave it some design element. It’s probably more interesting this way. Who knows, maybe I will modify it in the future. You always have that option with digital paintings in Photoshop.

Star Trek Original Series Sherry Jackson as Andreas Drawing with Photoshop Coloring

Star Trek Original Series Sherry Jasckon as Andreas Colored CloseUp in PhotoshopHere is the actual resolution that I painted it at in Photoshop. You can click on it to see it larger. It is relatively low res for a painting. But I don’t intend to print it so the resolution is sufficient. If it was for print, I would at least double the resolution. That would allow me to paint in more details especially in the eyes. The last thing you want is a blurring looking eye in a print. Anyhow…

I think I can finally put this piece to rest now. It finally looks like the Sexy Sherry Jackson as Andreas! It now feels complete!

Susan Denberg as Magda in Mudd’s Women

Playmate Susan Denberg as Magda in Star Trek Original Series Mudds WomenHere is an update on my Magda (Susan Denberg) drawing from the Star Trek Original Series episode Mudd’s Women. Magda is by far the hottest of the Mudd’s women. What else would you expect from a playmate!

This is my second drawing in my Women of Star Trek series. Here I have Magda posing in captain Kirk’s chair! Should be interesting. I like how she is coming along, but the chair needs some thinking. The chair is rather boring and I am not sure how much of the chair will be fully rendered in. I think just enough to let the viewer know that it is the captain’s chair on the Enterprise, and that should be good enough.

I am already thinking about my next Women of Star Trek drawing. Perhaps Nancy Crater as the Salt Vampire in the episode The Man Trap? I have this idea of doing a blend of her as Nancy and the Salt Vampire.

Or how about Barbara Babcock as Mea 3 in the episode A Taste of Armageddon. She is absolutely gorgeous and with that flowing rob of hers, it could be HOT!

Okay, I will stop now as I don’t want to jump too far ahead or I might lose motivation to finish this Magda drawing.

Sherry Jackson as Andreas – Women of Star Trek The Original Series Illustration

I finally got this Andreas (Sherry Jackson) drawing up. It usually takes a little bit of time to get a drawing ready for display. I need to spray the drawing with fixative, scan the drawing, then cleanup the scan in Photoshop. So anyhow, here she is. Not a whole lot like Sherry Jackson. But you can’t miss her in that costume. Andreas is the first in my Women of Star Trek illustration series.

For my second drawing, I will be drawing Magda, played by Susan Denberg. She is from the Star Trek Original Series episode “Mudd’s Women.” Doing a little research, Susan Denberg actually appeared in Playboy, as miss August all the way back in 1966. You can see it here if you like: Susan Denberg Playmate August 1966. Warning, nudity.

I’ve got a pose for Magda, and here is the start of the drawing. I tend to start with the face. I think most people do too. I figure the face is the hardest and most important part, and if I am going to screw it up, might as well do it early so I can start over.

I really dig the hair on her. It’s a whole lot sexier than what we have today in my opinion. With this kind of cool hairstyle, I actually don’t mind drawing the hair. Fun stuff.
